Some Small Tube Babies At Risk Male Penis abnormalities

IVF technology allows the process of artificial fertilization and occurs in vitro (outside the human body). But a small number of male babies born through IVF have a problem suspected abnormalities of the penis.

The study, presented at the annual conference of the European Society of Human Genetics showed that 4 percent of babies born from IVF technology suffer from congenital defects. This trend is much more common in male infants than female infants.

Dr. Geraldine Viot of Port Royal Hospital in Paris Maternite surveyed data from a third clinic in France are allowed to do IVF procedure formally. The birth of all IVF clinics in the year 2003-2007 amounting to 15,162 children.

"We found 4.24 percent of congenital abnormalities in children, this number more than previous studies by 2-3 percent. The increase is partly attributable to heart disease and abnormalities of the penis and is much more common in boys," said dr. Altpenis.com Viot as reported on Monday (19/12/2011).

The cause of some disorders that may vary. Dr. Viot asserts that more research is needed to understand the relationship between embryo culture media, embryo transfer time, the effects of ovarian stimulation, the use of ICSI in which sperm is injected directly into the egg, gamete and embryo freezing.

Dr. Viot and colleagues intend to follow up the research by analyzing the questionnaire of 4000 children born in 2008 to determine the origin of parental infertility.

"By looking at all the kids, we hope to understand more about not only what is wrong with IVF technology, but why not right. At the time of infertility increases and a growing number of couples using ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology popular in Indonesia as IVF technology ) in order to get pregnant, it is important to know what causes abnormalities in children, "said Dr. Viot.
